Neapolitan Pizza Dough

December 31st, 2008

One of my favorite places to go in the Twin Cities to grab a bite is Punch Pizza. Punch is a pizzaria which has been recognized with La Verace Pizza Napoletana from the Naples Certification Council. In other words…the city of Napoli (birthplace of the pizza) gives its stamp of approval to Punch as being authentic. Now after lots of tweaking, I have finally come up with a Neapolitan dough recipe that is pretty darn good in a home oven. One of the secrets is in the new kneading process I decided to try. I wish I could remember who wrote about it originally because he had a lot of interesting information about pizza. Anyhow I did remember the technique and tried it with my new mixer.

8bit v 16bit Editing In Photoshop

December 20th, 2008

Here is a video tutorial for 8bit v 16bit editing I created. Enjoy!

Now that its been a few days since President Bush had shoes thrown at him at an Iraqi press conference, I have had the opportunity to listen to a few news stories about the event. What I found incredibly silly how editors/producers were trying to weave a symbolic narrative about throwing shoes and Muslim beliefs. Now the common theory is that since showing the bottom of one’s shoes is an insult in Islam, this is the reason the Journalist threw his shoes at the President.

C’mon. I think it would have been a much bigger insult if the journalist would have shat in his hand and threw it at Bush instead of shoes–which he probably could have done given the time he had to lock and load two IRaqports at him. Now for the mysterious State Dept reader/spy I have keeping tabs on my blog, I am neither condoning nor advocating the tossing of fecal matter or footwear at the President. In fact I am surprised at how spry President Bush was in ducking these two shots. My reflexes would have been too sluggish after being laden with Shawarma to avoid a heelprint on my noggin. But then again he has been ducking from many things in his 8 years and has been mostly invisible over the past few months.

Last night I had the opportunity to attend a Minnesota Roller Girls event in Saint Paul and take a few pictures.  The Derby was a hoot, especially some of the characters both on and off the rink.  The Rollergirls really have a fan following.  I kind of equate it to WWE, but as their program states…nothing is staged and they put all their bodies on the line for their teams.

If you get a chance to see a Derby event in your area, it is a fun throwback to years gone by.  You can go to to find your local team.  In fact…I am a pretty good skater.  Hmmm…….wonder if the men’s league is accepting tryouts.

Here are a few of the shots I took from the event.
