Worldwide Pinhole Camera Day

April 29th, 2007

Gold Medal Flour

I bet you didn’t know that today is Worldwide Pinhole Camera Day? I didn’t either until I received an email from Minnesota IFP about a get together to learn more and take our own shot using a camera made from an old candy tin. This shot was taken from inside the Guthrie Theatre through one of its reflective metal windows. What you are seeing is the reflections around the Gold Medal Flour building captured directly on 5×7 RC Photographic paper and then reverse scanned.

Boy giving a “Wai”

Well I am back and completing my tour of SE Asia. I will be flying to Bangkok May 1 and then touring northern Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. It is all kinda hard to fit in 23 days, but I will make it work somehow. Again I got a great deal from my friends at www.thaifly.com for the flight. Since I am traveling during the low season (hot weather, monsoons), hotels are cheap.

I really was a news junkie up to about 9 months ago. I couldn’t get enough of it. I suppose that it was that “breaking news” thing that held its grip on me. But I have been soured on it as of late and the events on VA Tech is no exception.

I preface all this by saying that what happened was truly a tragic, needless, thoughtless and selfish cruel act perpetrated by one individual in dire need of help. 32 inncent people lost their lives, more injured and countless more lives affected by this event. My heart goes out to their loved ones.

I thought I would include a desktop scene for anyone wanting something serene for their desktop. This is an image south of Bangkok along the southern shore of the Gulf of Thailand. Figured I would give you a 1024×768 & 800×600 version. I think you have to click on the link and then when you see the picture you right click and save the picture where you want. Cheh qwee!! Big success!
